5 Ways to Deal with Stress

Ever just feel like the world is crashing down on you? There are too many events occurring in your life that you cannot even comprehend or begin to wrap your head around? School or work stressing you out? Well you are more than likely stressed out and we have all been there and you definitely not alone. Lately, I have been stressed out so I came up with my own method to deal with it. Now keep in mind, what works for me may not work for you, but just thought I would share :).

1.) Deep Breathing - Yes this sounds a bit ridiculous I know, but trust me it helped me. The key is to take 3 deep breaths. INHALE, EXHALE, INHALE, EXHALE and one more time INHALE, EXHALE !. This helps you catch your breath a bit and refocus and gather your thoughts. You can breathe for more than 3 seconds, but 3 is definitely a start.

2.) Talking to Someone- No one ever wants to feel alone when they are stressed. Now I know I tend to deal with things when I have complete solitude, but then again, I also learned that spewing it all out really helps as well. Go on, find a friend, a family member or even a therapist or other professional to talk to.

3.) Go outside- You ever hear people say "Ugh I don't want to go outside, it's too gloomy and going to dampen my mood" or being stuck indoors and just participating in mindless eating. Being outdoors and being around friends & family will help to bring up your mood  and take your mind off things. Go for a walk for about 5 minutes; walk your dog if you are a pet lover. Moving around helps to take your mind off things and appreciate the wonderful things around you.

4.) Be in the moment- This one may be a bit difficult to wrap your head around, especially when that moment is Stressful. But being in the moment means being zen and appreciating other things around you and not focusing on that stressful situation.

5.) Get some rest, slow down- There are a lot of things you are dealing with. Take a breather, take a quick nap. Maybe deal with one thing at a time; you don't have to deal with everything all at once. One yep at a time.

Ok I know I only said 5, but i find this one to be a bonus. Too often we focus on the negative, but I make a list in my head, but you can also write it down if you are a visual person. Make a list of your best moments and that always gets me out of my funk because remember, someone is always in a worse position than you are. There is always something to be grateful for! Hope this helps. Xxx
